Christian Dupree Ragland

Biography
My name is Christian Dupree Ragland and I am currently a freshman at Penn State University from Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. While at Penn State, I plan to claim a double major in Political Science and Economics. Before coming to college this year, I was fortunate to have a very successful four years of high school. I was class president for all four years, President of the Black Cultural Interest Club, a four year student council representative, a four year peer mediator, a member of National Honor Society. In terms of athletics in high school, I was a four year wrestler and a four year spring track & field captain. But above all the activities and leadership roles, I strived to be a humble student and person trying to reach my destiny. Therefore, everything I accomplished in high school laid the foundation for me to achieve at Penn State.
Platform
A healthy and diverse learning environment has historically been at the heart
of any great college experience for all parties involved. As an elite learning
institution, Penn State should be no different. Among other things, it is
critical to the growth of our University home that the concerns of
underrepresented groups are addressed and an unparalleled degree of cultural
awareness and sensitivity is reached. It is important that diverse interests
are protected throughout the evolution of student government at University
Park. Three main points of this platform are as followed:
- Protecting the interests of diverse and underrepresented groups.
- Creating a greater sense of community and belonging within the university
- Creating opportunities for all students to get involved in the Penn State community
