When someone thinks about Penn State, they think about tradition and academic excellence. As UPUA President, it will be my goal to preserve and advance both the excellence of this University, as well as preserving the traditions that make Happy Valley a special place to become men and women.
This Presidential agenda will be formed around three main goals. The first is to allow students to be more informed about the tuition they pay to this University. While administrators may be more than capable of making good decisions with student money, it is important that the entire student body monitors tuition increases. Therefore, it remains my goal to make the Student Activity Fee visible to all students in order to monitor the use of tuition.
There are few goals set forth by interest groups, clubs and the administration that conflict so much that progress cannot be made by all parties. As UPUA President, an important goal of mine would be to advance the agendas of the many student-run organizations of Penn State while still respecting the needs, wishes and mandates of the University. If we are to grow into world-changing individuals, the changes we make in the world we live in needs to start here and now at Penn State.
Tradition, as I have learned already in my short time in the military, is one of the most important aspects of any community. Tradition brings together the old and the new, instills pride and respect and in the special case of Penn State University, is a lot of fun. A large goal of mine is to work with the administration to develop a more hands-off approach to traditions like Paternoville, which helped to make Penn State fans the best in the nation.
