Daniel Lersch
Biography
My name is Daniel Lersch, but most people call me Dan. I am from Altoona, Pa, and I was a 2007 graduate of Altoona Area High School. Currently, I am a freshman at Penn State majoring in Crime, Law, and Justice. My academics and my involvement in my school community have always been major priorities of mine. In high school, I was involved in several bands, and I served as school board student representative, president of National Honor Society, and secretary of student council. As a freshman at Penn State, I have been involved in two of the university athletic bands, the Penn State Marching Blue Band and the Pride of the Lions Pep Band. I hope to continue to become more involved in Penn State student affairs as I continue my Penn State education. Also, I enjoy playing saxophone, politics, and spending time with my friends and family.
Platform
The student government should be the voice of the student body, and as an elected official of the University Park Undergraduate Association, I will represent the ideas and fulfill the needs of the students. Students have become apathetic about UPUA due to its lack of involvement in student affairs and inability to accomplish student goals. However, I will work hard with other UPUA officials to finally give the students an effective voice, one in which they have been searching for and deserve at Penn State.
As an On-Campus Representative, I will have short term campus goals, and long term UPUA organizational goals which are not limited to the following:
- Short term:
- Keep dorms open longer on weekends before and after breaks
- Long term:
- Work hard with other UPUA officials to increase the relationship between the other ten BigTen schools for an effective exchange of ideas
- Working with UPUA to create an effective mediator between the administration and the student body
Other involvement
- Pennsylvania State University Marching Blue Band- Librarian for the 2008-2009 season
- Pride of the Lions Basketball Pep Band
