Platform
As an at-large UPUA representative, I would be committed to making Penn State, already a wonderful institution, as student-friendly and student-focused as possible. UPUA should be fully committed to supporting student initiatives and student advocacy. A representative body has a responsibility to support its constituents. UPUA can and should serve as a means of drawing attention to and amplifying undergraduate student concerns.

Increasing UPUA’s accessibility should therefore be a priority. This goal can be accomplished quite feasibly by updating the UPUA website, promoting functional transparency, increasing UPUA’s visibility on campus, and making outreach to other student organizations a priority.

Finally, UPUA must campaign to open Penn State’s budget. PSU is not a corporation. As a land grant institution and public university, its budget should be public information.

Though such goals may seem ambitious, I believe that they are well within UPUA’s scope, and would, as an at-large representative, commit myself to promoting them. In summary, my key platform points are:

  • Increase UPUA’s outreach to other student organizations and support of student advocacy
  • Promote transparency of function
  • Open Penn State’s budget
