Registration requirements
- Photocopy of PSU ID+ Card
- Must have proof of status as a full-time student at the University Park Campus or be currently enrolled in a study abroad program approved by the Office of Education. This can be printed out through eLion under Academic Verification.
- Must have proof of status hold Good Academic Standing of at least 2.0 GPA in accordance with Faculty Senate and University Registrar policy. This can be printed out through eLion under Academic Summary.
- If running for the position of a college representative, you must be a current member of the college, or in the case of DUS, must have at one point have been a member of DUS during your college career.
- If you are currently studying abroad and wish to run for a representative position, the student may allow another student who is not already a registrant or candidate to fulfill the registration requirements on the student's behalf.
- In order to be eligible to run for representative, you must have attended one full semester at University Park.
Additional requirements for presidential and vice-presidential candidates
- If you are currently studying abroad and wish to run for the position or President or Vice President, the member of the ticket who is still at University Park must fulfill all registration requirements on behalf of the student studying abroad.
- If running for the position of President or Vice President, Judicial Affairs must have never found you responsible for a violation or violations of the Penn State Code of Conduct. When registering, you will be required to sign a release ensuring you do not have a Deferred Expulsion or Higher Punishment.
- In order to be eligible to run for President or Vice President, you must have attended two full semesters at University Park.
After registration
- Each Candidate will be entitled to a copy of the Elections Code, the UPUA Constitution and the UPUA Bylaws.
- Registrants will be required to submit to the commission before the end of the registration period a platform statement of no more than 300 words for a Presidential ticket or 200 words for all other positions.
- Registrants will be required to submit to the commission before the end of the registration period a petition of 250 signatures for a Presidential/Vice Presidential ticket and 100 signatures for a representative position. All of these signatures must be of University Park students and each signatory must also list their printed name and PSU User ID (abc1234).
- All candidates, registered or potential, must attend a mandatory training session, which reviews the UPUA Constitution, Bylaws, other governing documents, time commitments, and all other important information. This training session will be held during the second week of registration.
- Submit campaign, volunteer, and staff names affiliated with campaigns.
Additional notes
- Registrants may not campaign during the registration period. During this time, one may petition, seek campaign staff, solicit endorsements, purchase and design campaign materials, and express intent to seek election for purpose of petitioning.
- Registrants may wish to select a campaign color and submit it to the elections commission. The color may not be the same as the color picked by the elections commission or any other campaign. The elections commission will have a list of all campaign colors.
