Student Financial Education Center Open for Spring Semester

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Student Financial Education Center, created in a partnership between the University Park Undergraduate Association and the University Libraries, is open for the spring semester.

Formed in January 2014, the SFEC provides student-to-student personal finance education focusing in the subjects of budgeting, credit, and student loans. The SFEC is staffed with students who have been trained in specific areas of personal finance, to work one-on-one with students to improve and sustain financial literacy.

Many students are already looking into the ways they can begin paying off student loans to make a headstart on that outstanding debt and clear their financial futures sooner rather than later. It can be a difficult time to do this, however, and so these services can help steer students in the right direction. Hopefully, it will set them up for a lifetime of fiscal responsibility and careful management of their financial assets.

The SFEC office is located in 309A Paterno Library and appointments can be set up by visiting or emailing In addition, office hours are offered at the following times:

Monday: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Tuesday: 11:30 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.

Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.
