Financial Education Center Is Seeking Peer Educators

The Student Financial Education Center (SFEC), located in 301 Paterno Library, is seeking peer educators to commit 1-2 hours a week to the center. Peer Educators are responsible for managing the day to day operations of the SFEC by holding weekly office hours, providing personal finance education to students, conducting personal finance presentations to classes and student organizations, and promoting the SFEC services throughout the University.

Peer Educators will undergo a comprehensive training program, which includes assignments and presentations on budgeting, credit, student loans, and student aid. The position is open to students between first and fifth semester standing, while sixth and seventh semester students are eligible if enrolling in a fifth year. General characteristics of a strong Peer Educator include, but are not limited to:

  • Interest in personal finance
  • Strong communication skills, personable
  • Mentoring and leadership experience
  • Ability to identify and solve problems
  • Time Management skills
  • Organization skills
