10th Assembly Holds First Meeting

The 10th Assembly of the University Park Undergraduate Association convened for the first time on Wednesday, April 8th at 8:00 p.m. in room 302 HUB-Robeson Center. After holding elections only one week ago, the new assembly was eager for their new terms to begin.

After opening role call, President of the 9th Assembly Anand Ganjam swore in new President Emily McDonald and new Vice President Terry Ford. This was former President Ganjam’s final official task, as President, and his service to the Association will be missed greatly.

As President McDonald’s first official act as president, the swearing-in of the representatives took place next. Barry Bram, sponsor of UPUA, presented following this. During his presentation, Bram reminded the students of their role as representatives, to take their work seriously, and to not lose sight of why they are there.

Under New Business, the assembly elected new chair positions to all four of its committees, in addition to a new speaker of the assembly. The results are as follow:

Speaker of the Assembly: Emily Miller

Chair of Facilities Committee: Adam Terragnoli

Chair of Student Life Committee: Steffen Blanco

Chair of Governmental Affairs Committee: Ryan Valencia

Chair of Academic Affairs Committee: Andrew Ahr

There were also three new liaisons voted in from the assembly as well. The results are as follow:

Borough Council Representative: Shawn Bengali

Movin’ On Liaison: Nikita Page

Association of B1G Ten Students Liaison: Samantha Geisinger

Congratulations to all those with new positions chair and liaison positions and to the 10th Assembly as a whole. The meeting closed at 10:01 p.m. The next meeting for UPUA will take place next Wednesday, April 15th at 8:00 p.m. in room 302 HUB-Robeson Center.
