Four Confirmations at Second Meeting
The University Park Undergraduate Association’s 10th Assembly held its second meeting of the year on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. in room 302 HUB-Robeson Center. With the 10th Assembly still getting under way, the meeting was briefer than most as no legislation was on the table.
Sandy Barbour, Director of Athletics, gave a special presentation to the assembly following open student forum. Being the athletic director for only eight months, Barbour commended the students at Penn State multiple times during her presentation, stating that the university was a “place that did things the right way.” She also lauded the spirit and determination of the students, both athletes and fans, saying that their passion was “absolutely the point of difference for this campus.”
President Emily McDonald and Vice President Terry Ford’s reports followed. President McDonald announced that the Princeton Review partnership would be worked on again and that executive position applications for UPUA will be released soon. Vice President Ford discussed the recent B1G Ten on the Hill trip that brought students from all B1G Ten student governments to Washington D.C. to collaborate with legislators and advocate for the students of those universities.
Under New Business, the confirmations of Chief Justice of the Judicial Board (Joe Aria), Chief of Staff (Garrett Warmbein), IFC representative, and NPHC representative followed. All were confirmed and sworn in by President McDonald.
The meeting closed at 9:03 p.m., and the assembly moved into a work session at the banging of the gavel. The next meeting for UPUA will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. in room 302 HUB-Robeson Center.
