Penn State to Host 2016 Association of B1G Ten Students Summer Conference

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – July 26, 2016 – The University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA)is pleased to announce that Penn State will host the 2016 Association of B1G Ten Students Summer Conference on July 29 ­ 31.

Important issues to be discussed include improving student health insurance and increasing mental health funding, advancing diversity across campuses, promoting civic engagement amongst student bodies and expanding partnerships with national legislators on prioritizing the need for further investments in higher education.

“We are extremely excited to once again collaborate with our student­leader friends in the B1G Ten Conference,” said Samantha Geisinger, UPUA Academic Affairs Chair and Conference Coordinator for the B1G Ten Students Association. “We look forward to showing off our beautiful campus, engaging in some good conversations and gathering ideas for new projects in the coming school year.”

The Association of Big Ten Students is a coalition of student governments from each of the 14 Big Ten universities. The annual summer conference presents the unique opportunity to provide support, share ideas and collaborate on nationwide advocacy in support of student interests.

Notable members of the Penn State community that will be in attendance include Nicholas Jones, Executive Vice President and Provost; Damon Sims, Vice President for Student Affairs; Terry Ford, President of the UPUA and Paul Clifford, CEO of the Alumni Association.
